Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to review and discuss the proposed project with representatives from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). The proposed project involves a 10-mile section of rural SC 6 from County Line Road (S-8-59) to 500 feet east of Short Cut Road (S-60). This corridor was identified as a rural safety project corridor due to the frequency of run-of-road crashes. The project scope was to identify and provide safety upgrades to keep motorists from leaving the roadway and to provide a forgiving recovery area if a motorist did leave the roadway. Project elements are providing resurfacing, edgeline and centerline rumble strips, improved pavement markings, improved signing, paved shoulder and widening earth shoulder, flattening ditch backslopes, guardrail, beveling of roadside pipe ends, and clear zone improvements. Personnel from SCDOT will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
