The South Carolina Department of Transportation has scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, for the opening of SC Highway 153 Extension in Pickens County.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. on the closed portion of SC 153, between Prince Perry Road and Saluda Dam Road. Access from the Prince Perry Road exit. SCDOT and SC Department of Public Safety will be stationed at the Prince Perry Road entrance to the ceremony to provide assistance. Media may use "498 Prince Perry Road, Easley, SC" as a GPS address for the event.
Scheduled speakers include Governor Henry McMaster, Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall, SCDOT Commissioner Pamela Christopher, Easley Mayor Butch Womack and Greenville-Pickens Area Transportation Study (GPATS) Chairman Butch Kirven.
After the ribbon-cutting, a ceremonial first drive will be held on the new highway, which will be opened to traffic later in the afternoon Tuesday.
