Bridge deck rehabilitation work on the US 321 (Fairfield Rd.) Bridge over I-20 in Richland County Oct. 16-Oct 19

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans bridge deck rehabilitation work on the US 321 (Fairfield Road) bridge over Interstate 20 in Richland County this weekend beginning Friday night, Oct. 16.

I-20 traffic will not be impacted by the work on the Fairfield Road bridge, which was built in the mid-1960s.

This weekend's work is scheduled to be completed by 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, with traffic lanes reconfigured back to their original alignment.

At 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, lane narrowing and shifting will begin for the southbound lanes of the bridge to be rehabilitated. (The bridge's northbound lanes will be rehabilitated at a future date). Throughout the weekend's work, the bridge will maintain northbound and southbound travel with the existing lanes narrowed and shifted from 4 lanes to 2 lanes. Right turns from the I-20 exit ramp toward the bridge will be temporarily detoured this weekend until the travel lanes are reconfigured to their original alignment.

Advanced warning message signs will notify road users of the temporary weekend changes.

Please use caution while traveling through the work zone. "Let 'em Work. Let 'em Live."
