Socastee and Little River Swing Bridge Closures

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announces that beginning Tuesday, April 21st at 4:00 AM, the Socastee Swing Bridge, located on Dick Pond Road, will be closed for 48 hours for much needed repair.

The following week, beginning on April 28 th at 4:00 AM, the Little River Swing Bridge, located on Sea Mountain Highway, will be closed for 48 hours for the same type of repair.

SCDOT plans to continue taking advantage of the current low traffic volumes to perform road and bridge work with as little public impact as possible. This bridge work will require a full two-day closure for both bridges.

During each closure period, traffic will be diverted from each swing bridge to the nearest high-level bridge. All drivers traveling toward the Socastee Swing Bridge will be diverted onto Corporal Dennis Lyden Memorial Highway (SC-544), and for the Little River Swing Bridge, all traffic will be diverted onto Ocean Highway (SC-9/US-17).

SCDOT thanks all motorists for their patience and cooperation at this time. If you are traveling in the area, please remember to drive slowly and with caution. Let Em' Work, Let Em' Live.
