Services offered on the Web

SCDOT offers several sites to access, download and/or submit information, forms, applications, permits, files, etc., in order to assist the user in conducting business with the SCDOT. These sites are offered as a convenience to the user. In the event the sites are unavailable, it is the users responsibility to contact the SCDOT to obtain or submit information, and to comply with SCDOT deadlines for these services.

Cameras on the Web

SCDOT is not responsible for inaccurate or outdated weather or road condition information seen on camera due to the unpredictable nature of the weather and its effects on roadways. Because weather, road and traffic conditions change rapidly, drivers are in the best position to perceive such conditions and adjust their driving accordingly. Those relying on information presented on this site do so at their own risk, and the State of South Carolina, SCDOT and any of their employees or agents shall not be liable for the accuracy of this information or any actions taken based on the information. Videotapes of roadways are not retained or archived by the SCDOT.

Procurement

SCDOT's web site displays procurement information for the convenience of all interested parties and shall not be construed as the official posting for procurement opportunities with the SCDOT. The official posting for all solicitation awards remains located at SCDOT Headquarters Building, 1st Floor College Street Entrance, 901 College Street, Columbia, SC.

The posted list of solicitations may not be all inclusive of bidding opportunities for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Additional opportunities may be found in the "South Carolina Business Opportunities" publication that is issued bi-weekly by the Office of General Services, Materials Management Office or through highway construction contract lettings available by viewing the letting sites listed on the left side bar of this site.

Disclaimer: It is the vendor's responsibility to assure receipt of all amendments posted for solicitations that are downloaded. SCDOT will attempt to notify vendors by e-mail of amendments if the vendor submits an e-mail address during the downloading of the solicitation. Vendors are encouraged to check the web site prior to submittal of your bid/quote to assure you have received all posted amendments.

Purging of information on Web Site

Retention of documents, images, pictures, etc., on the SCDOT web site is controlled exclusively by SCDOT. SCDOT has the sole discretion, without notice to the public, to erase and purge any and all information contained on its web at any time.

Indemnification

If the State of South Carolina or SCDOT is involved in litigation and/or claims, in equity or by law, as a result of your use of our site, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the State of South Carolina, SCDOT and its affiliates and their respective employees and agents from and against any and a all claims, actions, demands, damages, costs, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the site.

SCDOT Social Media Comment Policy

SCDOT uses social media to post information related to SCDOT and travelling in South Carolina. SCDOT does not respond to direct messages or comments.

Comment Posting Rules

SCDOT reserves the right to delete any posted comments that are in violation of this policy or in violation of any state or federal law. Users repeatedly submitting comments in violation of this policy may be banned and/or blocked from further comments on this site.

SCDOT will, upon discovery, remove any comments that contain any:

  • Profane, obscene, vulgar or threatening language or content
  • Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetrates discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation

  • Threats of harm to a public official, employee of SCDOT, or a member of the public
  • Malicious code that contains a virus, worm, defect, Trojan horse or any other item of a destructive nature that may interfere or disrupt SCDOT services, servers, computer systems or networks
  • Posts that infringe on copyrights or trademarks Personally identifiable information (name, photo, social security number, driver's license number, date of birth, address, phone number or any other information or combination of information that uniquely identifies a specific individual).
  • SCDOT reserves the right to block or restrict the access of any user to this social media site upon violation of any of the above terms. In the event such a violation occurs, SCDOT will attempt to notify the user of the violation and of the action taken by SCDOT due to such violation.
