Statewide Strategic Corridor Plan

In order to maximize limited resources, maintain the State’s position in the global marketplace and efficiently move both people and goods, a strategic system of corridors forming the backbone of the state’s transportation system has been identified. This system will provide a connected, continuous network that serves both the traveling public and facilitates the movement of freight, and will also provide the needed connectivity that will allow South Carolina to maintain and enhance its economic vitality.  The consideration of needs on the Statewide Strategic Corridors is incorporated in MPO and COG planning processes, as there is currently no dedicated funding to address identified corridor deficiencies at the state level.
