MPO & COG Transportation Improvement Programs

A Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a transportation policy-making organization for urbanized areas in South Carolina with a population over 50,000. MPOs are made up of representatives from local governments and transportation authorities to ensure existing and future expenditures for transportation projects are programs are based on a comprehensive, cooperative, and continuing (3-C) planning process.

Councils of Governments (COG) serve county and municipal governments from a regional perspective and offer a wide variety of planning, economic development and social service coordination. COGs assist the South Carolina Department of Transportation in transportation planning for areas outside designated MPOs.

Individual Transportation Improvement Programs (TIPS) are available for each Metropolitan Planning Organization and Council of Governments. Click on an MPO or COG below to view the TIP for that area. These TIPs are amended frequently, so check back often for the latest updates.
