This scenic byway is 13 miles long, including two forks in the upper portion of the route. The byway begins just north of the Town of Walhalla in Oconee County on SC 107 and goes northward to the North Carolina state line.
Since it is mostly located in the Sumter National Forest, there is little development and lots of recreational opportunities. Trails, parks and other sites are located along the route, including Isaqueena Falls, Stumphouse Mountain Tunnel, Oconee State Park, the Chattooga Fish Hatchery, and the Oscar Wigington Overlook with breathtaking views of Lake Jocassee from a 2,000 foot elevation.
