You may know that our primary responsibility is to build and maintain roads and bridges. But do you know how the work of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) touches your family, your job, and your quality of life?
The South Carolina Department of Transportation provides the largest public service in South Carolina, as represented by the 42,000 miles in the state highway system.
SCDOT has established a Speakers Bureau to serve as a valuable source of information on highway issues that affect you - in the community where you live and work. Speakers are available to discuss a wide range of issues with the members of your organization. There is no charge for the service. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our story with you as we work to improve services to our customers, the citizens of South Carolina.

Highway Funding Policy
South Carolina has the 4th largest state maintained highway system in the nation, with SCDOT responsible for approximately 42,000 miles of highway. Funding for South Carolina's highway infrastructure is often misunderstood. A combination of federal funds and the state motor fuel tax fund our highway system, not the State General Fund or property tax revenues. This presentation highlights SCDOT's commitment to making the best possible use of these funds, and its need for additional funding.
