Statewide Transit Plan
Public transit is an important component of South Carolina’s transportation network. Building effective public transportation systems will provide mobility to thousands of state residents and visitors, improve access to community facilities, and serve as a valuable tool in promoting and facilitating economic development. Public transit systems provide an alternative to single-occupant vehicle travel, provide access to essential services and foster independence for those who are unable to drive, and support more compact and efficient land development patterns.
Plan summaries are provided below in pdf format. Full planning documents, including the entire draft Statewide Transit Plan and draft Regional Transit Plans, will be made available at each of the Public Meetings identified on the opening web page. The full plans include detailed background information, market research, and needs/funding methodology.
