History
In 2007, Act 114 of the South Carolina Legislature created the Office of the Chief Internal Auditor to establish, implement, and maintain the exclusive internal audit function of all departmental activities. The Legislature transferred the function beginning July 1, 2016, pursuant to Act 275, to the South Carolina Office of the State Auditor.

Internal Audit Services (IAS) is an independent objective VOICE for assurance and continuous improvement in collaborative pursuit of SCDOT objectives.
