SCDOT Seeks Public Comment

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is seeking public comment for a proposed amendment to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) associated with increased cost estimates for the planned replacement of five bridges in Charleston, Colleton and Jasper counties.

Due to significant ground improvements that are required to meet seismic performance requirements, an additional $8.8 million of construction funds will be needed for the bridge replacement project. The total project is identified in the STIP as "Design Build Package D" and includes replacement of the following bridges:

Charleston County: Road S-967 (Bryan's Dairy Road) at Abbapoola Creek
Colleton County: Road S-66 (Combahee Road) at Tributary to Calfpen Creek
Jasper County: Road S-17 (Callie Johnson Road) at Zig Zag Creek
Jasper County: Two (2) bridges along Road S-108 (Cat Branch Road) at
Cypress Creek

SCDOT proposes to replace the aging bridges with new structures that meet today's standards improving overall safety for users and residents.
