Spouses are welcome to attend the 6th National Seismic Conference. We have planned several spousal activities that we hope you will enjoy!
Monday (7/28) - Market Day
Downtown Charleston is known for its art, cuisine, and handmade crafts. All of this is found several blocks away from Francis Marion hotel at the Market Hall and Sheds, which are a National Historic landmark. This open air, covered market runs the length of several streets and is filled with local vendors. We will depart from the hotel as a group at 9:00 am followed by a Dutch-treat lunch at a local favorite. We will return to the hotel around 1:30 pm or you can top of the day with a horse drawn carriage ride along the Cooper River and through the historic downtown area. Shorts and comfortable shoes are the attire for the day.
Tuesday (7/29) – Folly Beach Trip
Spend a few hours enjoying the relaxing Atlantic Ocean. We will depart by bus/van at 9:00 am and will return to the hotel at 12:30. This is a thirty minute trip -a car will be available in the case of emergency. There are restrooms, a snack bar, beach chair ($10) and umbrella rentals ($10), and a boardwalk. Bathing suit with cover-up and flip-flops are appropriate. Sunscreen recommended.
