Outdoor Advertising Checklist

There are several important steps to getting the permit you will need to advertise lawfully.

• Contact your Outdoor Advertising Coordinator about your plans. He or she can provide you with the application, the regulations you should know about, and other vital information.
• If the sign is not on your land, obtain written permission or a copy of the lease from the landowner.
• Obtain written approval from any local zoning authorities who have jurisdiction.
• Submit the completed application, application fees, and needed documents to the state office of SCDOT.

The state office will review the application and forward it to the district office for evaluation and site review. If, for any reason, the approval of the application will take longer than 30 days, you will be notified in writing as to the reason.
