The Briggs-DeLaine-Pearson Connector will be a new 9-mile, two-lane roadway and bridge between Lone Star in Calhoun County and Rimini in Clarendon and Sumter Counties.
A three-mile-long bridge will span Lake Marion, extending to the limits of the lake's 100-year floodplain to minimize any impacts to the wetlands and floodplain.
The alignment begins at the intersection of S. C. Route 33 and S. C. Route 267, near Lone Star and extends in a southeasterly direction towards the CSX Railroad track. It then remains north of and parallel to the existing CSX Railroad track and trestle across the Santee River, marshland and Lake Marion touching down adjacent to Pack's Landing. From there, the alignment continues to parallel the RR track, turns in a northeasterly direction, crosses Road S-51 and terminates at the intersection of Road S-52 and Road S-658. The distance between the bridge and the RR track varies between 100' and 180' in an effort to locate the bridge as close as possible to the existing structure.
