From SCDOT.org Public Meetings The Mass Transit and Human Services Transportation Program Study Committee will review its final recommendations on Wednesday, May 13, before sending those recommendations to Governor Sanford. The committee was formed by legislation signed by the Governor in 2008 to examine both mass transit and human services transportation programs. The goal is to identify ways to study and make recommendations on ways to promote the increased use of existing transportation options, and to increase access, mobility and safety for the public.
The study committee is chaired by Transportation Secretary H.B. Limehouse Jr. Representatives are appointed by the Governor, the state Senate and the state House of Representatives. In addition, six state agencies, legislative committees, the Lieutenant Governor’s Office of Aging, the Transportation Association of SC and Council of Governments also make up the membership of the committee.
A conference call will be conducted for the committee’s review of its recommendations from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday May 13. Members of the public who wish to listen to the proceedings may access the conference call:

A specific objective of the recommendations is to establish the South Carolina Interagency Transportation Coordination Council for the purpose of promoting statewide interagency cooperation and stewardship of public and specialized transportation resources.
