COLUMBIA, SC –The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and the Southern Evacuation LifeLine (SELL) Task Force have announced that the Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be signed on Friday, August 8, 2008, in a special ceremony.
The ceremony will be held at the Surfside Beach Town Hall at 3:00 p.m.
The SELL project would provide improved hurricane evacuation, congestion relief on existing roads, and improved access across the Waccamaw River between Conway and Georgetown. The preferred alternative route will be presented at the ceremony.
Public hearings on the selected alternative are anticipated to be held in late August on the east and west sides of the waterway.
