The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and Lee Construction Company of the Carolinas, Inc., have rescheduled repair work to the southbound bridge on SC 9 (Lancaster Highway) over the Catawba River in Lancaster County.

Work is scheduled to begin in early 2009. Specific dates have not been set at this time.

Original plans called for the road to be closed beginning December 14, but work has been rescheduled due to the holidays and to minimize the impact to local restaurants, businesses and the traveling public.  Once work does commence traffic will be maintained by using the newer northbound bridge to carry two-way traffic while the repairs are made to the southbound bridge.

For more information, the public can contact District Maintenance Engineer Todd Cook at (803) 377-4155.
