Bridge over Catawba River on SC 9 (Lancaster Highway) Southbound Lanes Only Scheduled to close Sunday, December 14, 2008 Estimated Completion Date Thursday, December 18, 2008

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and Lee Construction Company of the Carolinas, Inc. plan to repair the southbound lanes of the bridge on SC 9 (Lancaster Highway) over the Catawba River in Lancaster County.  The road will be closed to through traffic and detoured beginning Sunday, December 14, 2008.  The detour is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 am that day and continue until December 18, 2008, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

 

The detour route will begin at the intersection of SC 9 (Lancaster Highway) and US 21 (Catawba River Road), proceed northerly on US 21 for 12.71 miles, turn right onto SC 5 and proceed easterly for 15.07 miles, turn right onto US 521 (Charlotte Highway) and proceed southerly for 9.16 miles to SC 9 (SC 9 By-Pass)   The net detour length is 29.07 miles.   Motorists are advised to use extra caution in construction work zones.
