The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Thursday, October 16, concerning proposed improvements to 3rd Avenue South between US 501 and US 17 Business.

The meeting will be between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot, 851 Broadway St., Myrtle Beach.  The meeting will have a drop-in type format with displays for viewing.  A formal presentation will not be given during this time.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information concerning the proposed improvements to 3rd Avenue South between US 501 and US 17 Business, and to solicit comments from area residents and business owners.  Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area.  In addition, an opportunity will be provided for comments on the project’s impacts to Withers Swash Park.   Personnel from SCDOT and SCDOT’s design consultant will be available to discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
