The portion of SC Highway 302 closed due to this weekend’s jet crash is expected to re-open at 6 a.m. Thursday, September 25, barring unforeseen circumstances.

As federal authorities conclude the onsite investigation, SCDOT Maintenance crews will begin assessing the damage to the roadway and cleaning the area in preparation for re-opening the road to traffic. Necessary repairs to the roadway will be made at a later date, but these repairs should not required closing of the SC-302 to traffic.

In addition, a SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) contractor will be conducting soil tests and excavating and replacing any contaminated soil.

The current detour remains in effect:

Westbound SC-302 traffic is being detoured at the John Hardee Expressway to Platt Springs Road to Emmanuel Church Road to Old Dunbar Road then back to SC-302.

Eastbound SC-302 traffic is being detoured at Old Dunbar Road to Emmanuel Church Road to Platt Springs Road to John Hardee Expressway then back to SC-302.
