The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a series of public hearings to present the preferred route alternative for the Southern Evacuation Lifeline (SELL) project.
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement provides details on a new evacuation route in southern Horry County. The information presented to the public will be the same for each meeting. The meetings will begin with an informal format with displays for viewing of the route, followed by a formal comment period.
The hearings will be held:
· Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 5-8 p.m. at Socastee High School,
4900 Socastee Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, SC
5-8 p.m. Commons Area for viewing of information
6:30-8 p.m. Auditorium on 2nd floor for formal comments
· Wednesday, August 27, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at the Horry County Government and Justice Center, 1301 Second Avenue, Conway, SC, Rooms B, C and E
4-6 p.m. for viewing of information
6-7 p.m. for formal comments
· Thursday, August 28, 2008, 4-7 p.m. at the Horry County Bucksport Community Center, 1370 Bucksport Road, Bucksport, SC, 4-7 p.m.
4-6 p.m. in the gymnasium for viewing of information
6-7 p.m. in the gymnasium for formal comments
On Friday, August 8, 2008, the Draft Environmental Impact Statement was signed by the SCDOT, FHWA and the SELL Task Force in a ceremony sponsored by the SELL Task Force.
