The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Maintenance Division has closed the bridge over an unnamed stream on S-11-58 (Bailey Bridge Road), approximately 9.0 miles northwest of the City of Gaffney in Cherokee County, for replacement.

Due to the relatively low traffic volume, and to minimize the impact to property owners in the area, the road will be closed during the bridge replacement project.  The detour will use S-11-36 (Bonner Road), S-11-61 (Green River Road) and S-11-37 (Old Metal Road).

This project is scheduled to be awarded in the fall of 2008.  SCDOT anticipates re-opening the bridge in the spring of 2009.

For more information, the public may contact District Maintenance Engineer Todd Cook at (803) 377-4155.
