The Red Cross mobile unit will be at the SC Department of Transportation on Thursday, June 12, for a community blood drive.

The mobile unit will be in front of SCDOT Headquarters, 955 Park St., to take donations from the community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Red Cross will have staff in Room 303 for SCDOT employees to donate.

Summer is a critical time for blood supplies, and it can be difficult time to recruit donors. Each year blood has to be purchased from other states to meet the needs of South Carolina. One unit of blood has the potential to save three lives.
