The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has closed all lanes of Gervais Street in downtown Columbia between Harden and Gregg Streets. The work on this two-block section of Gervais Street is anticipated to be complete by Wednesday morning June 4.

A repair job previously scheduled for this weekend on this portion of the street revealed that a storm drain running across the length of the entire street had collapsed. Work to solve the problem has already begun and the street has been closed between those two blocks. The closing will continue in effect until the work is done.
