The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Wednesday, April 23, concerning the proposed widening of a portion of US 278 in Beaufort County.

The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bluffton High School, 12 H.E. McCracken Circle in Bluffton.  The meeting will have a drop-in format, with displays for viewing.  A formal presentation will not be given during this time.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information concerning the proposed widening of US 278 (Fording Island Road) from S-474 (Simmonsville Road) to SC 170 (Okatie Highway), and to solicit input from area residents.  Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization, on historic or cultural resources in the area.  Representatives from SCDOT will be available to answer questions.
