The South Carolina Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting Thursday, April 10, in Charleston County concerning the proposed I-526 (Mark Clark Expressway) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murray LeSaine Elementary School, 691 Riverland Drive, Charleston. This meeting will be conducted in an “open house” format, with SCDOT representatives available to answer questions.
The proposed EIS will be for the completion of the Mark Clark Expressway, which would improve mobility in the area by serving anticipated future traffic growth. The proposed project is approximately 7.1 miles long beginning at the present I-526 terminus with U.S. 17 (Savannah Highway) and ending at existing intersection of SC 171 (Folly Road) and the James Island Connector. SCDOT is seeking input as a part of this scoping process to assist in identifying issues relative to this project.
For more information, the public may contact Project Manager David Kinard at (803) 737-1963.
