The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information Thursday, February 28, in Lake City concerning the proposed widening of a portion of US 378 in Florence County.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Lake City Senior Center, 198 North Acline St., Lake City.  The meeting will have a drop-in format, with displays for viewing.  A formal presentation will not be given during this time.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information concerning the proposed widening of US 378, from US 52 (North Ronald McNair Boulevard) near Lake City, to SC 41 (Kingsburg Highway) in Kingsburg (a distance of approximately 18 miles).  The Department will be seeking input from interested citizens with regards to the proposed footprint for the widening of US 378.  Two options will be on display for persons to review and ask questions.  The Department will encourage comments from those attending the meeting on what they feel is the most appropriate footprint for the highway through this area.  Personnel from SCDOT will be available to answer questions.

The US 378 widening project is part of the Florence County Forward Program and is funded by both Florence County and the State Infrastructure Bank (SIB).  SCDOT is managing the program for Florence County.
