SC 296 Widening Project Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Monday, Aug. 14

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and their partners have scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Aug. 14, for the SC 296 widening project in Spartanburg County.

 

The ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Reidville Road Fountain on the corner of Blackstock Road (SC 215) and Reidville Road (SC 296).

 

Speakers scheduled to attend the ceremony are: SCDOT Executive Director Elizabeth S. Mabry, SCDOT Commissioner F. Hugh Atkins, of the 4th Congressional District; Bob Lee, South Carolina Division Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration; South Carolina State Representative W. Douglas “Doug” Smith, District 32; and Kevin Reed of Sloan Construction Company, Inc.

 

The widening of SC 296 completes the second phase of widening SC 296 from SC 290 to SC 295.  This project includes widening to 7 lanes and a new interchange at I-26. 

 

The Executive Director of SCDOT is Elizabeth S. Mabry. The SCDOT Commission includes Chairman Tee Hooper of Greenville; Bob Harrell Sr., 1st Congressional District; John N. Hardee, 2nd Congressional District; Marion P. Carnell, 3rd Congressional District; F. Hugh Atkins, 4th Congressional District; Bobby T. Jones, 5th Congressional District; and Marvin Stevenson, 6th Congressional District.
