Several federal, state and local agencies have scheduled a news conference Friday, April 8, in Columbia to launch the first ever “South Carolina High Visibility Enforcement Campaign for Work Zone Safety.”

SCDOT staff in orange vests will be available to direct the media to the location. In the event of rain, the media will be directed the Ellison Building.

The news conference will launch the first of five “blitz waves” for the high visibility enforcement effort planned during the next seven months. Speakers will discuss when and where the blitz waves will occur.

Friday is also the beginning of a statewide TV public service campaign, and the new ads will be shown at the news conference.

The 2005 Work Zone Safety High Visibility Enforcement Campaign is a joint partnership of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), local law enforcement agencies, the SC Law Enforcement Networks, Carolinas Associated General Contractors (AGC) and the SC Municipal Association.
